SanDisk’s New 256GB A1 MicroSD Card Wants All of Your Apps

sandisk ultra 256 a1SanDisk announced a new microSD card this week at CES, a card that is rated A1 for its performance while handling apps to “launch and run apps at blazing speeds.” In other words, this is a card built for users who want to store apps outside of their internal storage, yet still see solid performance.

This is the first card in the world with an Application Performance Class rating of A1. While the transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s aren’t necessarily new, SanDisk claims that this new card can “manage random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write IOPS of 500, so it can quickly open apps and process accompanying tasks, such as audio, graphics, saved profiles and in-app permissions.”

Taking advantage of Google’s Adoptable Storage probably won’t be an issue if you decide to pick up one of these cards.

This new A1-rated microSD card from SanDisk will arrive this month for $199.99.
