To recap, Google Home Max is Google’s first Hi-Fi speaker that costs $399. You can buy it today at the Google Store, Best Buy, Verizon and Walmart.
This premium version of Google Home features dual 4.5″ woofers, a couple of tweeters, far field microphones to access Google Assistant (mute switch included too), USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, touch panel for controlling volume and playback, and Google’s Smart Sound, that adapts to your room and speaker’s placement to offer the best soundstage.
You can place it horizontally or vertically, pair it with other Google Home products for multi-room audio, and stream a variety of music services, including Google Play Music, Pandora, YouTube Music, and Spotify.
We just started testing, so I don’t have much to report back on the audio quality front. I will say after the first couple of listens that it gets incredibly loud and possibly already sounds better than my original SONOS PLAY:5. We’ll see if that holds up.
