Xiaomi Mi Max 2 launched with 6.4-inch display and 5,300 mAh battery

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was rumored to show up more than a month ago, but now it has finally arrived. Xiaomi unveiled the handset at a launch event earlier today in Beijing and it boasts a full metal unibody and rounded edges.
As the name suggests, the Mi Max 2 does things big, packing a 6.44-inch display and a whopping 5,300 mAh battery (with USB Type-C connectivity). The handset also comes with Quick Charge 3.0 which Xiaomi says will provide as much as 68% battery life from a one-hour charge.

The Mi Max 2 houses a Snapdragon 625 chipset, with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage space (depending on which model you want), expandable up to another 128 GB via microSD card. The screen is also likely to come in at 1080p resolution, but it’s yet to be confirmed.
On the rear of the device, you’ll find a 12 MP Sony IMX386 camera sensor with 1.25μm large pixels and phase detection autofocus, as well as a circular fingerprint scanner. In addition, the Mix Max 2 includes an IR Blaster and is expected to be running Android Nougat.

Rounding off what we know so far, the Mix Max 2 includes stereo speakers — a front-facing and a bottom-facing speaker — which are said to intelligently switch from mono to stereo when the device is moved into a landscape orientation. It’s priced at 1,699 yuan (around $245) for the 64 GB version and 1,999 yuan (around $290) for the 128 GB version.
