Because the Moto Z Play proved itself last year to be the king of all in battery life, seeing Moto potentially put that reputation at risk for the sake of thinness was unfortunate. Of course, battery capacity info wasn’t available with those renders, but a report out of Venturebeat suggests the reduction we all had nightmares about is coming.
According to this report, the Moto Z2 Play will slim to 7mm thick and drop battery capacity from 3510mAh in last year’s model to 3000mAh. Ugh.
The rest of the specs will reportedly include a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 626 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 12MP f/1.7 rear camera, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Of course, the Z2 Play with a 3000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 626 processor could last a long time. But we’re also talking about losing 15% battery capacity. Are we now looking at regular, single-day battery life? If so, I’ll pass. We’re about to break up, Moto Z Play line.
