The beta for Nova Launcher received an update this week, catered almost specifically for new Galaxy S8 owners. According to the changelog, the update includes minor fixes for Samsung’s latest, respect for system-level themes on the S8, plus Dynamic Badges for all users. The big addition for all users is the inclusion of Dynamic Badges. With these, you’ll begin to see image badges from notification content. For example, if a tweet comes in, you’ll see the user’s profile photo on top of your Twitter shortcut. Same goes for email, Hangouts, and all apps such as that. Just note, if the Dynamic Badges don’t appear to be working, this is still a beta.
