Obsessed With a YouTuber? Now You Can Pay to Ensure They See Your Message

Today, YouTube is introducing Super Chat, a way for YouTube viewers to pay an amount of money to ensure their messages in a livestream are viewed by the streamer.
With Super Chat, say one of your favorite YouTubers is hosting a livestream, complete with a chat. Typically, the chat section on a YouTube stream can be filled with many messages, and instead of your message getting overlooked by the stream, you can pay to have your chat pinned and highlighted, ensuring the YouTuber sees your comment.
According to YouTube, this should provide a great way for people to help support their favorite YouTubers, as the Fan Funding feature wasn’t all that popular.
While we were really excited about Fan Funding, it never achieved widespread usage outside of live streams, where we saw the majority of revenue. Fan Funding will stop accepting new sign-ups today, but can continue to be used on enabled channels until February 28, when it will be discontinued.
This change is rolling out immediately to YouTube.
