There are many notes about the Note, including a new one that might have a dual edge display but isn’t made by Samsung. Regardless, for the majority of the masses, the term calls forth a specific sizable smartphone: the Samsung Galaxy Note. Last year saw the mainstay model move into a more meaningful glass sandwich, and along with it the removal of a user-replaceable battery and microSD support. It was also numbered “5”. This year’s model will buck that trend.It has been rumored that the new Note will have the number 7 on it as Samsung opts to skip 6 and suddenly synchronize with its S series. While it’s possible Blass could be off – he did Tweet this after all – his status as a legendary leaker is not without good reason: the man has some damn good connections and sources. So, assuming this is indeed the real logo, Samsung “seven” synergy is looming large.There is of course a slight bit of amusement in the fact that, while having both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines on the same number, Samsung might inadvertently be confusing customers who end up asking where the Galaxy Note 6 went. Then again, if Microsoft can skip a number, why can’t everyone else, too?
