Report: Galaxy Note 7 name likely final as legit-looking logo leaks

Samsung-Galaxy-S7-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-7There are many notes about the Note, including a new one that might have a dual edge display but isn’t made by Samsung. Regardless, for the majority of the masses, the term calls forth a specific sizable smartphone: the Samsung Galaxy Note. Last year saw the mainstay model move into a more meaningful glass sandwich, and along with it the removal of a user-replaceable battery and microSD support. It was also numbered “5”. This year’s model will buck that trend. It has been rumored that the new Note will have the number 7 on it as Samsung opts to skip 6 and suddenly synchronize with its S series. Today, Evan Blass (@evleaks) has posted the following:Confirmed. pic.twitter.com/jo1EF3Mp3J— Evan Blass (@evleaks) June 25, 2016The above logo seemingly confirms the rumors. While it’s possible Blass could be off – he did Tweet this after all – his status as a legendary leaker is not without good reason: the man has some damn good connections and sources. So, assuming this is indeed the real logo, Samsung “seven” synergy is looming large. There is of course a slight bit of amusement in the fact that, while having both the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lines on the same number, Samsung might inadvertently be confusing customers who end up asking where the Galaxy Note 6 went. Then again, if Microsoft can skip a number, why can’t everyone else, too?Samsung-Galaxy-Note-6-04Detailed SummaryFor those in need of a quick recap of the Galaxy Note 7’s main details – based on current rumors and leaks – the following is what is believed to be being brought to market next month:Specs: The Galaxy Note 7 may have a 5.8-inch QHD dual-edge Super AMOLED display, a faster Exynos 8 SoC variant, 6GB of RAM, an improved 12-megapixel camera with dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus, and a 4,000 mAh battery.Release: The device is said to be launching on August 2nd, and will be in stores in the Netherlands around the second or third week of the month. Presumably other territories will have a simultaneous – or similarly scheduled – release.Price: The latest reports suggest that the phone will retail for 799 Euros, or roughly $905 US. It should be noted that prices in Europe are often significantly higher than they are in the United States and thus this should not be taken as a final price, or even necessarily a ball-park figure.Wrap UpWith the numbering convention seemingly sorted, this leave only one main mumbling that needs to be solved: Will the Galaxy Note 7 be released as an Edge-only variant, or will there in fact, be a standard screen smartphone as well? Given the rumored August 2nd launch date, it’s likely the truth will be out there sooner than later, especially with leakers such as Blass on the case.
