Android Mini Collectibles Series 06 Will Arrive This Summer

The last time we saw a new series of Android mini collectibles was all the way back in February of 2015. Without hearing any details of a new series in over a year, we were actually starting to wonder if the Dead Zebra and Andrew Bell-backed project had run its course. Today, though, those silly thoughts were confirmed to be garbage.

Andrew Bell took to the Dead Zebra newsletter moments ago to announce that the Android Mini Collectibles Series 06 set would arrive “this summer.” There will be 16 designs overall, many of which will be previewed over the coming weeks. The full set will then make its debut at Comic Con in San Diego towards the end of July before stopping off for sale at your local toy shops.

Artists this time include these folks: Andrea Kang, Colus, Dwaine Morris, Igor Ventura, Jessica Wang, Nathan Jurevicius and Otto Bjornik.

Don’t care about mini collectibles? Fine. Here are some new coffee mugs to consider.

BauBax is a damn cool line of smart clothing that wirelessly charges your devices

A pretty intriguing Kickstarter has made its way across our radar. The company is called BauBax, and they’ve designed a line of over thirty wearable products that passively and wirelessly charge your devices while you’re wearing them. If it works the way they say it does, this is a pretty damn cool set of products. The BauBax line includes a range spanning jackets, pants, wallets, and accessories that are capable of charging any Qi-compatible smartphones, tablets, or smartwatches. The way it works is that the company has developed an ultra-slim power bank that slips into your wallet. You put your wallet in one pocket of your jacket or pants and put your smartphone in the other. Tech in the clothing pipes the charge wirelessly from the power bank to your device. There are even optional “charging coins” that can slip out of the jacket sleeve to charge smartwatches. Wireless-chargers-testingSee also: Best wireless chargers – how they work and perform15 When you get home at night, you just toss your wallet on the BauBax charging pad by your night stand, and it’s ready to go the next morning. The best part about this is that all the clothing and its embedded equipment are machine washable. It’s an innovative approach that attempts to cut wires and keep you mobile and powered all day long. BauBax is calling it “mindless charging,” the next evolutionary step in wireless charging. At the time of writing, the Kickstarter is closing in on $5,000 toward its $100,000 goal with nearly two months left to go on the campaign.BauBax is calling it “mindless charging.”Backing the project is a little tricky since backers probably want to snag specific styles and types of devices to suit their needs. Rather than make a long list of possible combinations that might leave some preferences out in the cold, BauBax has created a calculator on their site that lets you pick and choose the products you want to receive once the project gets the green light. Right now the company is pushing a “Super early bird” discount that knocks up to 50 percent off the price tag of these high tech fashion statements.Click the button below to head on over to the Kickstarter page, and let us know in the comments what you think about this prospect of clothing-integrated power bank systems. Is this the way of the future, or merely a gimmick? Give us your opinion!Check out the Kickstarter!

Doppler Labs introduces some new augmented reality earbuds

doppler labs here oneDoppler Labs has unveiled their newest pair of earbuds for their Here Active listening system, but they’re doing something fairly interesting with the technology. This is, in a sense, augmented reality for your ears, and they’re calling it Here One.So what’s the difference between Here Active and Here One? Well, Here Active was a pretty interesting little offering that let users actively adjust the sound quality of their environment via a smartphone app. You can think of them as smart hearing aides. Rock concert too loud? Cancel out the high end frequencies. Can’t hear your companion over the sound of the train? Lower the train’s volume and increase the volume of the vocal range. Here One takes this tech one step further by adding back all the other features we would expect from Bluetooth earbuds. jaybird freedom earbuds bluetoothSee also: New JayBird Bluetooth earbuds are teeny tiny and pack portable power3 That’s right. This means with these bad boys you can stream audio from your phone while simultaneously adjusting the noise around you. If Here Active can be considered smart hearing aides, Here One can be thought of as augmented reality for your ears. They’ve even increased Here Active’s capabilities by adding “adaptive filtering.” Noah Kraft, the CEO of Doppler labs, speaks pretty highly of the feature, describing a situation in which the sudden passing of a fire truck would interrupt a conversation. “Before your ears can even recognize the siren,” he says, “so faster than your own brain, it can recognize the siren and reduce that without adulterating the human speech.”Here One can be thought of as augmented reality for your ears.If that actually works, it would be some pretty stupendous technology. We’ll have to wait around until November when this product ships, but if you’re already convinced then you can head over to their website and preorder a pair of these high-tech earbuds for $299.What are your thoughts regarding Doppler Lab’s latest top tier Bluetooth earbuds? Worth the price tag, or are you satisfied with basic noise cancellation for your tunes on the go? Huawei Honor 8 strolls through China’s TENAA

In the eyes of many however, Huawei managed to truly up its game when Google selected it to produce last year’s Nexus 6P. This handset, combined with a number of other top tier, premium products, has made many a fan of the OEM, even if its now higher prices are ironically – and apparently – hurting sales, with the company allegedly reducing estimates by 40 million units.Huawei also has a sub-brand, called Honor, and it too makes some snazzy smartphones. Last month a phablet sized product, the Honor V8, was announced. A short while after however, it was revealed that a smaller variant would be sold as well. Indeed, said sibling has just passed through China’s TENAA regulatory agency, and is called, simply, the Honor 8:huawei-honor-8-01From the front, the device would seem rather standard-fare, looking almost like an Apple iPhone or Galaxy S7 without a home button. The raised 2.5D glass can clearly be seen, as well. On the back however, things are a different story:huawei-honor-8-02Above is arguably one of the most unique looking back sides of any product in recent memory…simply because it’s ironically so simple. Huawei made the “periscope” look famous last year when it shipped the Nexus 6P with a giant glass window along the top of the back side, and even LG has received some harsh words for the “robot” look of its G5’s camera module. The Honor 8 looks to have no flashy rings or windows at all, and presents everything quite plain and simply.Dual cameras can be seen – just as its older brother has – but this time, without anything surrounding them to visually distract from the clean design aesthetic.Looking to the side:huawei-honor-8-03A single antenna band can be seen along near the top portion of the device. Here is the front in black, for additional reference:Honor 8 BlackSpecs and detailsAccording to nowhereelese.fr, who spotted these pictures earlier today, the phone is said to have a metal casing, and either a plastic or glass back side. It is just 7.45mm thin, and weights just 153 grams. The phone is said to be launching in July.Regarding specs, the Honor 8 has a 5.2 inch Full HD (1920 X 1080) display, a 2.3GHz Octa Core SoC – likely a Huawei Kirin 950 – 3GB or 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of on-board storage, a dual 12-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels, a bio-metric fingerprint sensor located on the back, and a 2,900mAh battery. It is expected the device will have USB Type-C, just as the Honor V8 did.Wrap UpHuawei has come a long way in recent years, especially in terms of the way many in western countries view it. In fact, the same could be said about many of China’s main mobile manufacturers, including ZTE (see the Axon Phone), though names like Huawei and Oppo have yet to become mainstream household words. This product definitely has a unique look going for it, at least on the back side, and with specs that are probably not going to break the bank price-wise, it could be a perfect contender for a potential purchase. What do you think?
