Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact pre-orders available at UK’s Carphone Warehouse

If you live in the UK, you can now pre-order two of Sony’s recently announced smartphones, the Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact. Carphone Warehouse has listed the Xperia XZ1 for the price of £599 without a contract, with shipments scheduled to begin on September 22. The XZ1 Compact is priced at £499 without a contract, and shipments will start for that phone on September 29.

The retailer also has a special offer for Xperia XZ1 buyers. If they pre-order the phone on or before September 21, they will also get a free pair of Sony h.ear on 2 headphones, which normally costs £250. The phone is available to order in Blue, Black and Silver colors, while the Xperia XZ1 Compact comes in Blue, Black and Pink colors. Both the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact are the first smartphones that are confirmed to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
The Xperia XZ1 has a 5.2-inch full screen display, and the current fastest mobile processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. The all-metal body has 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of onboard storage, a 13 MP front-facing camera, a 2,700 mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor (which won’t be included with the version shipping to the US). The biggest feature for this phone is its 19 MP rear camera, which will have Sony’s Motion Eye technology. It will include features such as predictive focus and Motion Eye 3D, which will let users create a 3D mapped image of a person or any other object.

As the name indicates, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is a smaller phone compared to its brother, with just a 4.6-inch 720p display. However, it shares many of the same hardware specs as the Xperia XZ1, including its 19 MP rear Motion Eye camera. The main differences with the Compact are that its onboard storage is smaller at 32 GB, it has a smaller 8 MP front camera and it has a plastic body.
