New Sony Xperia phone spotted in the wild: 6-inch display, front flash

Sony Mobile has been in the news a lot recently, both for better and for worse. As the Japanese OEM eagerly prepares to roll-out its new Xperia X-Series handsets, introduced at Mobile World Congress this past February, images have surfaced of an unannounced product. Believed to be a follow-up to last year’s Xperia C5 Ultra, behold the following:Xperia-C6_1The pictures, spotted by Xperia Blog by way of Baidu, show a gigantic 6-inch Xperia smartphone, complete with a giant front-facing camera and a flash located to its right. A dedicated camera button can be seen on the bottom right side of the frame, and a tiny power button in the middle. The last point suggests this phone would not come with a fingerprint sensor given the approach Sony used for the Z5, however anything’s possible at this point. The report states that the phone should have a MediaTek SoC and Dual SIM support. Additional pictures indicate the phone will also support NFC and have a standard-type USB connector. For additional pictures have a look below: Xperia-C6_2Xperia-C6_3Xperia-C6_4Xperia-C6_5Xperia-C6_6The big question is if this big phone will ever make it to market. At MWC, Sony placed a great deal of emphasis on its new “X Line” however there is still the likely probability that it intends to release other, more budget-priced hardware to supplement it. In particular the presence of a 6-inch size option would make for a nice alternative for customers not concerned with superior specs, but who want a truly large phablet. What do you think? Does this phone look like a winner? Would you consider purchasing it? Make sure to leave a comment or two, and remember to keep checking back with Android Authority for updates on this, and all the latest Sony mobile products!
