Fans across the world had been begging for an Android device to come from BlackBerry, and now that it’s here it isn’t doing as great as we thought it would. The company that once owned the smartphone world now finds itself trying to catch up to everyone else. They have much to offer, especially for keyboard lovers and enterprise users, but it seems the BlackBerry Priv is struggling to sell enough.Even with dark times behind the company, CEO John Chen is adamant about the company’s coming growth. Will they be able to rise above? That is a question we can’t answer just yet, but a good step in the right direction would definitely be to lower that rather expensive $699 price point; and it seems they are doing just that.BlackBerry has just announced that the Priv’s price is going down by $50. That takes the full retail cost down to $649. Yes, we know that is still a high price to pay. In fact it is more expensive than certain other renown high-end handsets out there. But hey, that gorgeous physical keyboard has a price.Here’s the trick. This price is only being respected by BlackBerry (at least for now). Carriers are still selling the device for over $700 as of the time of this article’s publishing. If you want to get your BlackBerry Priv for $649, you must get it from BlackBerry itself. People across the big lake also get a new price of £529 and €729.This may also come as proof that BlackBerry is working on something new. We have heard “at least one” more Android phone is coming from the Canadian phone maker.
